1. What Is Personal Information and Why Do We Collect It?

Personal information is information that identifies, or could reasonably identify, an individual. The personal information we collect through this website is your email address, submitted voluntarily via the waitlist form, together with limited technical information described below.

We collect your email address for the primary purpose of notifying you when the Sauna Maps application becomes available. We will not use your email address for any other purpose without your consent. Where appropriate, we will explain at the point of collection why we are collecting information and how we plan to use it.

2. Cookies, Analytics, and Technical Data

Our website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Our hosting and security provider may automatically record standard technical information in server logs such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and the date and time of access, for the purposes of security and reliable delivery of the Website.

3. Storage and Overseas Disclosure

Your email address is stored using Supabase, Inc. (supabase.com), a third-party database provider. These providers may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. By submitting your email address, you consent to this overseas storage and acknowledge that, where data is held overseas, we may not be able to ensure the overseas recipient complies with the APPs and you may not be able to seek redress under the Privacy Act 1988. We have taken reasonable steps to use reputable providers that maintain appropriate data security practices. You can review Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.

4. Disclosure of Personal Information

Your personal information may be disclosed in the following circumstances:

to our service providers (such as Supabase and Cloudflare) for the purposes of storage, hosting, and delivery of the Website, as described above;
where you have consented to the use or disclosure; and
where required or authorised by law.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing or commercial purposes.

5. Data Retention

When your personal information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it. Specifically:

if the Sauna Maps application launches, the waitlist will be cleared within 30 days of the launch notification being sent;
if we determine that the application will not be launched, all collected email addresses will be deleted within 30 days of that decision, and we will make reasonable efforts to notify subscribers by email before doing so; and
if you request removal of your email address at any time, we will delete it promptly (see section 7 below).

6. Children's Privacy

This Website is not directed at children under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
